|  Our Services to You: Flight instruction is of course our premier service. We have observed, however, that most people become pilots in order to purchase their own airplane. Therefore, we will help you select an appropriate airplane and offer a lease arrangement where we use your airplane when you are not, in order to reduce your cost of ownership.
Aircraft Purchase Consultation
Douglas Aviation offers the additional service of consultation on your first airplane purchase. For a small fee, we will ask you to fill out a questionnaire specifying what you want an airplane to do, and advise you which makes and models fit the description. Further, we will keep an eye on the new and used markets for you, forwarding information on prospect airplanes with specific notes and comments.
Douglas Aviation will operate as your company's flight department. If you own an aircraft of any description and want to reduce the workload of ownership, engage Douglas Aviation to manage the Aircraft for you.
Most students simply purchase their own airplane after earning their Private license and hire a Douglas Aviation Instructor to escort them on business trips in order to gain the cross country and instrument time required for rating. This tends to work well for businessmen; just be aware that you will incur the per diem charge to have the instructor out of town all day.

Flight Instruction
Unlike most schools, where the instructors are building time for the airlines and students are second class, our staff of competent Certificated Flight Instructors are under contract and are dedicated to seeing YOU through. At Douglas Aviation, you can expect one instructor from lesson one to successful completion of your Certificate or Rating. Douglas Aviation has access to several airplanes and presently flies with students out of these airports: Danville/Boyle County, Richmond/Madison County, Lebanon/Springfield, Lexington/BlueGrass, Somerset, London, Williamsburg/Whitley County. We are diligently seeking agreements with more airports, and will conduct flight instruction wherever requested to do so; we will come to you anywhere East of the Mississippi River. Two or three flights per week, financed. Live, Instructor led Private/Instrument combined course via internet Seperate Instrument course for those who need only that rating

Douglas Aviation will be happy to conduct your BFR. The required 1 hour ground will come straight out of ASA's Oral Exam Guide, and the minimum 1 hour flight will cover the type of flying you normally do. You may expect a simulated emergency landing, a power off stall, a power on stall and a short field landing. Flat rates: in our airplane, $200. In your airplane, $100. An IPC is required for instrument rated pilots who were unable to do the required flight elements in the preceding 6 months. The FAA grants an automatic extension of an additional 6 months before a formal IPC is required, however, it is wise to get with an instructor periodically to brush up on your skills. If you are within your six month window, or the 6 month grace period, a Douglas Aviation instructor will review your log book and do precisely what is needed to meet the requirement; and no more. In our CH2T, $200. In your airplane, $100. If a full IPC is required, it is essentially an instrument checkride on the PTS Areas and Tasks our CFI determines. There will be a 1 hour oral quiz ($30) from ASA's Oral Exam Guide and at least a 1 hour flight doing simple attitude maneuvers, intercepting VOR radials to get to the selected approaches, and those approaches. The specific approaches will be selected and discussed during the oral portion of the IPC. In our CH2T, $50 + hobbs time @ $150/hr. In your airplane, $50 + tach time @ $50/hr. Please don't forget to have your valid medical, your most recent log book, and your pilot certificate with you. | |
